Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)

Fritom Group sets course for sustainable future with CSRD

In November 2022, the European Union enacted the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This directive requires companies from 2025 to report transparently on the impact of their activities on people and the environment. Fritom is also preparing intensively for this important transition.

"At Fritom we are going for continuity and we realize that sustainability is the only way to go. In 50 years we still want to be that professional and sustainable family business. Because the CSRD directive will only accelerate the sustainability process, we have decided to embrace the CSRD and have started working energetically" stated Reinder Beuving, CFO.

"Although Fritom has already made considerable strides in terms of sustainability, it soon became clear that the legislation is complex and external support would be necessary. KPMG was chosen to support us in meeting the reporting requirements.

The CSRD process is tough and intensive, but it also motivates us to keep innovating. We are proud to be the first logistics provider to develop a CO2 monitor that is ISO 14083 verified for road transport. By early 2025, this will be available for all modes of transport.

Last year the CSRD team worked extremely hard to complete the preparations on time. And starting in 2025, we will definitively measure and report our sustainability goals. Fritom is ready for it!"

CSRD progress: Together we continue to build a green future

Fritom's Green Journey

During the past quarter, we have again taken the necessary steps in the implementation of the CSRD. The recent developments surrounding the omnibus proposal within the CSRD in the European Union, are causing questions and uncertainty for many organizations. For Fritom, one thing remains crystal clear: we remain committed to sustainability and greening. We believe that real change does not depend on regulations alone, but on shared ambition, courage and concrete steps.

We therefore see the CSRD not as an obligation, but as an opportunity to accelerate sustainability. It offers us and the sector the opportunity to work even more purposefully towards a future-proof society.

For Fritom, sustainability is not a separate project but part of our Green Journey, where every step counts. In cooperation with Maisters and KPMG, we are giving substance to the concretization and implementation of CSRD on a project basis. To this end, we are also taking a good look at ourselves. We are re-examining our own processes, evaluating where we stand and sharpening our course. This starts with recalibrating our green dot on the horizon, in which we also think about how we move towards it together with our partners. Because building a green future is something we do together!
